The City of Laval’s day camps

An idea that will enchant your children

Summer is here and the City of Laval’s children’s day camps are open. With a week of elevated heat already behind them, the children have been participating in activities, while having fun following the theme, ‘Adventurers from times past.’ Each week, the children have missions they must complete, in which they help “fictional” characters pursue adventures throughout the world during important stages of history.
Lots of fun
On the morning of July 8, Alexandre Duplessis, a member of the executive-committee and city councillor for the district of Saint-Martin, was able to see for himself the fun the kids were having in the city’s day camps. “I think that the theme ‘Adventurers from times past’ sounds like a lot of fun,” he said. “It’s simple, lively and dynamic. The children pursue an adventure all through the summer, which stimulates their imaginary universe in one of the most secure and multidisciplinary programs.”
Many activities
On all the territory of Laval, there are 30 day camps for kids aged 6 to 12. Each district is able to take in a good number of children (about 2,200 for all Laval), and this is on a weekly basis. The suggested activities at the City of Laval’s day camps vary from cultural, educational, recreational, sporting and open air offerings. The themes for the eight weeks of summer are: A pirate’s life…; The prehistoric era; Kwang Xi, the dragon; The king’s banquet; The door to Atlantis; The courage of the Mayan people; Adventures in England; and The celebration.
